On the afternoon of August 15, 2025, our technical department and business personnel held a technical clarification meeting with the customer team regarding the Mineral Sizer drive unit. The core of this meeting was to conduct in-depth discussions on the components and key technical details of the Mineral Sizer drive unit, in order to ensure that the product can meet the actual needs of the customers. The Driven Units, as the “power core” of the Mineral Sizer, directly affect the crushing efficiency, operational stability, energy consumption and maintenance costs.

Drive Units

Provide power support

The drive device can transfer power to the transmission device, thereby driving both rollers to rotate simultaneously. When the power is transmitted to the transmission device, the energy provided by the drive device causes the mineral sizer rollers to start rotating, allowing the two rollers to move relative to each other.

Achieve material crushing

Under the drive of the drive device, the two rotating rollers can cause the material to be subjected to pressure and shear force between the two rollers, gradually being crushed. After entering the crushing chamber, as the rollers rotate, under the squeezing and shearing of the two rollers, the particle size gradually decreases, ultimately achieving the purposes of coarse crushing and medium crushing.

Control crushing particle size

Through the cooperation of the drive device and the adjustment device, the gap size between the two rollers can be adjusted in real time. When it is necessary to change the crushing particle size, the drive device works in coordination with the adjustment device, and only by adjusting the gap size can different particle size crushing effects be achieved.

Protect equipment safety

When encountering hard materials, the pressure between the two rollers increases and exceeds the bearing capacity of the mineral sizer. At this time, the drive device may cooperate with safety spring devices, etc., causing the safety spring to automatically release, creating a gap between the two rollers, preventing the mineral sizer from being damaged due to overload, and ensuring the safe operation of the equipment.

Motor

Provide power source

The motor transmits power to the toothed rollers through a transmission device (such as a reducer, gears, etc.), enabling the toothed rollers to rotate at the set speed and direction.

Ensure stable operation of the equipment

The stability of the motor plays a crucial role in the stable operation of the mineral sizer. High-quality motors can continuously and stably output power, ensuring uniform rotational speed of the toothed rollers, thereby ensuring that the materials are subjected to stable compression and shear forces during the crushing process, achieving uniform crushing and maintaining stable quality of the crushed materials.

Affect production efficiency

The power of the motor directly affects the production efficiency of the mineral sizer.

Cooperate with intelligent adjustment

Some advanced mineral sizers are equipped with an automated control system, and the motor can work in coordination with these systems. The motor can intelligently adjust the output power and rotational speed according to the actual crushing requirements, under the regulation of the automated control system.

Reducer

Reduce speed

One of the main functions of the reducer is to lower the high rotational speed of the motor to the appropriate working speed of the double teeth rollers. This enables the double teeth rollers to perform operations such as squeezing, shearing, and crushing stably and effectively on the materials.

Increase torque

While reducing the speed, the reducer can also increase the output torque. Through internal gear transmission and other mechanisms, the reducer amplifies the torque of the motor, allowing the double teeth rollers to obtain a large torque even at a lower speed, thus more powerfully crushing materials with higher hardness and larger particle size.

Protect equipment

The reducer can also play a role in protecting other components of the mineral sizer. It can buffer the impact and vibration generated during the motor’s startup and operation, reducing damage to the key components such as the double teeth rollers and bearings.

Match power and working requirements

The reducer can flexibly adjust the output speed and torque according to the specific working requirements of the mineral sizer, so that the power of the motor can match the working needs of the double teeth rollers, improving the working efficiency and performance of the mineral sizer, and better meeting the crushing requirements of different materials and production scales.

High-speed end coupling

Basic function

The basic function of a coupling is to connect two shafts (the driving shaft and the driven shaft) in different mechanisms. The high-speed end coupling firmly connects the driving shaft of the motor with the driven shaft of the mineral sizer transmission system, allowing them to rotate together and transfer torque, transmitting the motor’s power to the working components of the equipment to ensure the normal operation of the mineral sizer.

Buffering and vibration reduction function

Some couplings also have the functions of buffering, vibration reduction, and improving the dynamic performance of the shaft system. The high-speed end coupling can, to a certain extent, alleviate such impacts and vibrations, reducing damage to the motor and other transmission components, extending the equipment’s service life, and also improving the stability and reliability of the entire shaft system.

Compensation for displacement function

The high-speed end coupling can also have the function of compensating for the offsets (including axial offset, radial offset, angular offset, or combined offset) between the two shafts due to these reasons, enabling the power to be smoothly transmitted from the motor to the working components of the mineral sizer, ensuring the normal operation of the equipment.

Overload protection function

Some couplings with overload protection functions can, when the torque exceeds the set value, avoid damage to the motor and other transmission components due to overload by means of slipping, disconnection, etc., thereby protecting the mineral sizer.

Hydraulic Coupler

Absorbing Impact Force, Ensuring Smooth Operation

The torque-limiting hydraulic coupler can absorb the impact force generated during crushing, making the mineral sizer operate more smoothly. During the crushing process, a significant impact force is produced. Without the buffering effect of the hydraulic coupler, the equipment may experience severe vibration, which would affect its stability and service life.

Overload Protection Function

When there is a jam or overload situation inside the mineral sizer, the torque-limiting hydraulic coupler can automatically cut off the power transmission, allowing the motor to be in a standstill state, thereby protecting the motor and the large and small toothed rollers.

Summary

The integrated combination of these components directly determines the crushing efficiency, operational stability, energy consumption level and maintenance cost of the Mineral sizer. It is the key guarantee for the equipment to achieve coarse and medium crushing operations.

During this meeting, our technical staff detailedly introduced the performance characteristics, application scope and optimization plans of various components. The customer team also, based on their actual needs and production experience, put forward valuable opinions and suggestions.
